The Income Tax Department has made it mandatory to link PAN and Aadhar. The last date for this work was fixed as March 31, 2022, but now this deadline has been extended. If you have not yet linked your PAN card with your Aadhar card, then know some important things related to doing this work.

Now You Can Pay Penalty If You Not Link Your PAN card with Aadhar card


The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), which prepares the policy for the Income Tax Department, has extended the last date for linking PAN and Aadhaar by one year i.e. March 31, 2023. If you have not done this work, then you still have a chance, but now you will have to pay a penalty for it.


Now linking your PAN card with Aadhar card is not for free.

You will now have to pay a fine for linking a PAN card with an Aadhar card. You can link PAN-Aadhaar by paying Rs 500 for three months i.e. April, May and June, 2022. After this, for the next nine months i.e. from July, 2022 to March, 2023, you will get the facility of linking PAN-Aadhaar by paying a penalty of Rs 1000.


PAN will be canceled if not linked with Aadhar by March 2023

According to the notification of CBDT, your PAN will not be canceled till March 31, 2023. That is, for the next year, you can link PAN and Aadhaar anytime with the prescribed penalty. During this, there will be no interruption in any of your financial transactions, but after March 2023, PAN will be canceled if PAN-Aadhaar is not linked.


How to link PAN card With your Aadhar card.

  • For this, first of all, go to the Income Tax Department Official website www.incometax.gov.in.
  • After this, the option of Link Aadhaar will have to be selected.
  • On doing this an OTP will come to your mobile number. Validate it.
  • After this, your Aadhaar will be linked with your PAN.


If your Aadhaar is already linked with PAN, then you will see a message that your Aadhaar and PAN are already linked.


If you have already requested for Aadhaar-PAN linking, then you can check here by clicking on 'Link Aadhaar Status' given on the right side. ,


After this, you will have to click on 'View Link Aadhaar Status' by giving your Aadhar and PAN number, from which you will know the status of the Aadhar-PAN link.


43.34 crore PAN-Aadhar have been linked

According to the data, 43.34 crore PAN has been linked with Aadhar till January-24-2022. So far 131 crore Aadhaar cards have been issued. The PAN-Aadhaar linking will help in eliminating 'duplicate' PAN and prevent tax evasion.
